VaginaDentata

The family and I were watching this movie called, "Teeth" and found it very amusing. The story entailed a young woman who knew about her condition apparently through her sexual encounters with men. In any event, during her sexual excursions she castrated her sexual partners causing them to bleed to death. This condition was called, "Vagina Dentata".

After viewing the movie, I wondered was there any truth of this condition and if there were any women out there who had it so I did some research on the subject.

Vagina Dentata is a Latin term for “toothed vagina.” Apparently it's an urban legend about a woman creature that has teeth in her vagina.

A "toothed vagina," which is known to be a classic symbol of men's fear of sex is expressed to believe that a woman may eat or castrate her sexual mate or partner during intercourse. Supposely there hasn't been any male human being that was spared by the terrifying shock of the threatening castration at the sight of a teethed female genitals." But don't get it twisted the real reason for this "terrifying shock" is a mouth-symbolism, now recognized universally in myth and fantasy:

It was said that many cultures frequently told this tale as a warning of the dangers of sex with strange women to discourage the possible process of rape from men of the Malekula and the Yanomamo tribes.

It is believed that the Chinese patriarchs believed that women's genitals were not only gateways to immortality but also "executioners of men."

Many centuries ago, in ancient writings has basically described that the male sexual function not as "taking" or "possessing" the female, but rather "being taken" or "putting forth."

The Sioux Indians told a tale much similar to that of the vagina dentata. A beautiful seductive woman accepted romance and loving of a young warrior and was united with him inside a cloud and when the cloud lifted, the woman remained alone only to find the man was tortured into a heap of demolished bones being gnawed by snakes at her feet.

The Egyptian myths of the mouth and vulva were derived by the sun god whom on a daily basis re-entered his mother sometimes as a "cleft" and sometimes as a "mouth." It is said that Priestesses of Baste a representing Goddess of the tribe drew up her skirt to display her genitals during religious processions.

It was said by the Greeks of whom became very frightened when a young warrior fled in terror from a Lycian woman who made advances on him with her genital exposed ready to eat him and swallow him whole.

According to the Philostratus tribe it was said that these magical women of the tribe were aggressive in arousing sexual desire in men while seeking to devour whomever they wish especially if the men angered them in any way.

According to the Persians and Moslems this seemed to be a distinct possibility. Viewing women's genitals was either obscene, dangerous, or overly seductive, so they insisted on veiling them and keeping them covered as for any possible dangers.

Long ago it was said that Christian authorities of the Middle Ages were taught that certain witches associated with the help of the moon and magic spells like a vampire could grow fangs in their vaginas. It was said that a women's genitals was much like mouth of hell, though hardly original; It was the witchcraft of the vagina dentate which was used to frighten off pushy men who demanded sex.

Although the Archetypal origin image of a devouring female genital appears to be undeniably true even in the modern world, men are not afraid of the desire of a beautiful woman these days. Men prefer direct contact with the female genitalia and aren't afraid orally of referring to the female genitalias; they are largely aroused also by their feelings to other female accessory sex organs such as the hips, legs, breasts, buttocks, etc. They gave these accessories sex organs an high exaggerated interest of desirability."

It's funny long ago by looking into, touching, or entering the female orifice seems fraught with hidden fears, signified by the confusion of sex with death in overwhelming numbers of male minds and myths. A psychiatrist says sex is perceived by the male conscious as dying: "Every male orgasm is a little death: the death of the little man or the so called "penis."

A Catholic scholar's curious description of the hell-mouth of a woman's womb inadvertently reveals this idea of man: "When we think of man entering hell we think of him as establishing contact with the most intrinsic, unified, ultimate and deepest level of the reality of the world and it is most commonly identified as "Vagina Dentata!

Believe It or Not?

Lol! Thanks Escapade and yes you must see the movie it was quite entertaining. I've often thought that what if all woman could just produce teeth in our vaginas when we felt betrayed, cheated on or abused...I guarantee there wouldn't be many men alive today because of the many mass castrations around the globe! LOL! No just kidding! I'm glad you enjoyed this hub and many blessings to you! :)
