Wireless Communications: Cell Phones of the Past to the Present
By dl53acy
It's amazing how fast technology is moving in today's world and nothing is the same anymore. Wireless communications has become our life line, our link of connectivity in our daily business activities, as landlines are becoming more and more obselete. Manufacturers are making billions in designing smartphones that are equipped to do anything right at your fingertips with touchscreen capabilities to allow you to connect to internet, select different apps, download music, watch movies, play games, use GPS locate, take great pictures, voice command texting and a lot more. It seems that as soon as you get use to these new smartphones new and improved versions are coming out with better WebOS in 4G for faster service that cost a little bit more. It's wonderful and convenient to have a device that can do so much while you're away on business from home or in school it helps make life a little easier. Lately many smartphones has cause much frustration when you can't make a call or receive calls because of network or signal issues depending on your location or whether the device has a good built-in antenna that can reach far enough for a tower signal. Just because it's a 4G smartphone doesn't mean that it is always better and with all of the software data, widgets and running apps on the device at one time can surely hinder the phone's performance often times freezing up and draining the battery on the device which can be quite aggravating. This defeats it's purpose of being a smartphone when the ending result has be to perform a master reset or uninstall any running apps that could be causing the problem but not all smartphones can be this troublesome. Although there are many customers who own these high-end devices have just had it with all of this new technology and would rather have a phone that they can rely on to make or receive calls and text without any issues. Quality and reliability is what customers really want and not pay high price for a phone that seldoms works accordingly and now days some manufacturers just don't seem to be making good phones for the price they are worth.
Remember back when they made the brick phone? Sure it was big and bulky with the pull out antenna but you never dropped a call and you were able to make calls when necessary. You didn't have to worry about buying batteries and with a good charge the phone would last nearly all day. We've come a long way since then and they don't make them like they use to but you were able to get good dependable use from a cell device.
Over the years cell phone innovations became a hot commody for manufacturers such as Nokia, Pantech, Samsung, Motorola and Sony Erisson just to name a few in meeting customers needs in preferrable design, style and color. There were flip phones and others slide. Some took good pictures and with texting capabilities using the qwerty dial pad or keypad but the ending result was that you could rely on the phones to make and receive calls nearly 90% of the time.
Apple, Palm and Blackberry just to name a few came out with their line of smart phones taking innovations to another level. Androids and Windows 7 are now the most popular devices and all with the new 4G network. Some of them are really great!
The HP Veer 4G by AT&T is the smallest of all cell phones I've seen so far. It has a cute compact design and has a lot of features for a tiny smartphone but because of it's tiny screen makes it very difficult to use. I underatand in the future there will be more devices it's size and smaller with a better WebOS data, faster and much smarter for a smartphone new and improved. So there is more to come. You will definitely need a good pair of eyes for devices of this size!
